Fungal keratitis

Fungal keratitis (mycotic keratitis) or keratomycosis (keratomycosis) is difficult to diagnose clinically, easily misdiagnosed, and often causes blindness due to improper treatment. The occurrence of fungal keratitis is generally caused by factors, the most important of which is corneal trauma. In addition, ocular surface diseases, especially abnormal tears, wear of contact lenses, and long-term use of antibiotics and glucocorticoids are also common triggers. Fungal keratitis is not uncommon. In the incidence, the south is more than the north; in one year, the incidence rate is high in the busy season of summer and autumn. In terms of age and occupation, it is more common in young adults, the elderly and farmers.
