Perimaxillary cellulitis

Perimaxillary cellulitis is an acute inflammation that occurs in the fascial space around the jaw bone. There are chewing muscles and expression muscles around the upper and lower jaws. These muscles are filled with loose connective tissue between the muscles and the jawbone, forming some potential gaps. Due to the different anatomical parts, each gap has its specific name, such as the masseter muscle space, submandibular space and so on. Perimaxillary cellulitis or gap infection can occur when infection invades these areas.
