Malignant fibrous histiocytoma

Malignant fibrohistiocytoma, also known as malignant histiocytoma, is the most common soft tissue tumor in the elderly. This tumor is a pleomorphic, highly cellular tumor. Some of these cells have obvious vacuolization due to their lipid storage. Mitosis appears to be common and some are atypical. Cells were positive for Vimentin. The recurrence rate after surgical resection was 25%, 35% metastasized, and the survival rate was 50%. In recent years, variants of this tumor have been found: polymorphic layered type, mucinous type, giant cell type, inflammatory type, hemangioma-like type, etc.
