Retroperitoneal fibrosis

Retroperitoneal fibrosis (RPF) was first reported by French urologist Albrran in 1905 and used the concept of retroperitoneal fibrosis. Until 1948 Ormond reported two cases of retroperitoneal fibrosis. Case reports have only gradually increased and become recognized by more and more clinicians. The pathological changes of the disease are characterized by the proliferation of retroperitoneal fibrous tissue and leading to extensive retroperitoneal fibrosis. Clinical manifestations are closely related to the degree of compression of the retroperitoneal tissue or organs (such as the ureter).
