Chronic pyelonephritis in the elderly

Urinary tract infection is a common disease in the elderly. Pyelonephritis is an important clinical type of urinary tract infection. It is an infectious inflammation of the renal pelvis and kidney parenchyma directly caused by bacteria (rarely fungi, viruses, protozoa, etc.). Pyelonephritis has multiple episodes or is unresolved. The course of the disease is more than 6 months, and the pelvis and kidneys are deformed, narrowed, and the size of the two kidneys is uneven. Chronic disease can be diagnosed if the course of the disease is not clear and renal function remains after the control of acute symptoms. Some scholars reported 181 cases of chronic pyelonephritis, and only 11% had an acute medical history.
