Craniopharyngioma

Craniopharyngioma is a common residual tumor of the embryo developed from residual epithelial cells of the craniopharynx formed by ectodermal leaves. It is the most common congenital tumor in the skull. Occupies the second place in saddle tumors. Occurs in children and rarely in adults. Occurs on the saddle, accounting for 5 to 7% of the entire intracranial tumor, and 12 to 13% of children's intracranial tumor. Its main clinical features are hypothalamic-pituitary dysfunction, increased intracranial pressure, vision and visual field disorders, diabetes insipidus, and neurological and psychiatric symptoms. A CT scan can confirm the diagnosis. The main treatment is surgical removal of the tumor.
