Pediatric hepatolenticular degeneration

Hepatolenticular degeneration (HLD) in children is an inherited disorder of copper metabolism. It usually occurs in the age of 10 to 25 years old, and can be as early as 3 years old or later than 50 years old. It is characterized by copper deposits in liver, brain, kidney, cornea and other tissues, causing a series of clinical symptoms. In recent years, great progress has been made in the study of this disease. It has been proven that this disease is completely treatable. The disease has been reported in various parts of China, and fruitful work has been done in early diagnosis, early treatment, and DNA analysis.
