Antitrypsin deficiency
Laurell and Eriksson have found that the lack of 1-antitypsin (1-AT) is closely related to emphysema since 1963, and believe that 1-AT deficiency is the main cause of familial emphysema. The lack of 1-AT is closely related to the incidence of liver cirrhosis and liver cancer in infants and young children.
