Penetrating heart trauma

Penetrating cardiac trauma is caused by a class of strong, high-speed, sharp foreign bodies penetrating the chest wall or elsewhere and entering the heart. A few are caused by violent displacement of the sternal or rib fracture and puncture of the heart. Heart penetrating injuries have pericardial damage, and sometimes there are multiple heart wounds, which are particularly common in puncture wounds and bullet wounds.
