Cardiac lipoma

Cardiac lipomas are benign tumors with intact adventitia, containing typical mature adipocytes. Lipomas can be located in various parts of the heart and the pericardium. Lipomas located in the myocardium are usually small and have an intact envelope, and occasionally grow on the mitral or tricuspid valve. Patients are over 20 years old and up to 70 years old, with more men than women. Clinical manifestations depend on the size and location of the tumor. Because the tumor is small, the patient is generally asymptomatic and often found during a physical examination or autopsy.
