Industrial application: Selenium and sulfur are elements in the same cycle, and their chemical properties are similar to sulfur. Selenium is volatile to form an aerosol and can form selenium dioxide (SeO2) in the air. Selenium is widely used in electrical appliances, rubber, glass, pottery, metallurgy, pigments and other industries. It is also used in photovoltaic cells, photometers, and selenium electrostatic copying.
