Hemoglobin D disease

Hemoglobin D actually includes a variety of abnormal hemoglobin. The letter D indicates any variation with HbS electrophoretic characteristics but normal solubility during alkaline pH electrophoresis. HbD Punjabα2β2121 → glutamine is the most common variant in HbD, including HbD Los Angeles (α2β2121 → glutamine), HbD Bushman (α2β216 → sperm), HbD Washington (α2β268 → Lai), and our domestic Mongolian patients include HbDα Inner Mongolia, HbD Baotou, HbDβ urethane and so on.
