Pelvic peritonitis

Severe infection of organs in the pelvic cavity occurs. Pathogens can spread to the pelvic peritoneum through the spread of the blood or lymphatic system and direct spread, which is called pelvic peritonitis. Pelvic peritonitis often coexists with other pelvic infections, especially salpingitis. In severe cases, inflammation changes occur in the entire pelvic peritoneum. Very few cases can even spread to the entire abdomen and become diffuse peritonitis. Sometimes due to pelvic peritonitis or other inflammatory diseases of the abdominal cavity, pus accumulates in the lowest part of the abdominal cavity, the uterine rectal fossa, and forms a uterine rectal fossa abscess.
