Waist to hip ratio

Waist to hip ratio is an indicator of body fat distribution. Excessive fat accumulation in the waist is associated with chronic diseases (such as heart disease, diabetes, etc.). The distribution of body fat can be divided into two types: upper body obese type and lower body obese type; upper body obese type is more at risk of cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, diabetes and other chronic diseases, so the ratio of waist circumference to hip circumference can be used for diagnosis. If the female is greater than 0.85, the upper body is obese. The subcutaneous fat layer has the function of heat preservation, and the increase in thickness also reflects the increase in body fat.
