Palpation of abdomen

Abdominal palpation is an auxiliary examination method to check whether the abdomen is normal. Palpation is an important abdominal examination technique. During the examination, the examinee should lie on his back with a low pillow, with the lower limbs flexed slightly apart, hands naturally placed on both sides of the trunk, the abdominal muscles relaxed, and deep and uniform abdominal breathing. The examiner stands on the right side of the examinee and faces the examinee. The right forearm of the examinee is on the same plane as the examinee's abdomen. The hand is warm and the palms of the examinee are placed on the abdomen. While talking, distract the examinee to reduce abdominal muscle tension, pay attention to the facial expression of the examinee, and in principle first palpate the unexplained pain site. Abdominal palpation mainly includes abdominal wall tension, presence or absence of tenderness and rebound pain, abdominal mass, fluid wave tremor, and liver and spleen.
