Superficial venous filling

The superficial venous filling of the dorsal hand is an auxiliary examination method used to check whether the veins are normal. The method is that the doctor instructs the patient to take a sitting or supine position, holding one hand at the same level in the right atrium (flat 4th rib cartilage in the sitting position, and flat axillary midline in the supine position), and then gradually raise the hand to the shoulder joint as the axis. At a certain height, the dorsal vein of the hand, which was originally filled with blood, can be seen to sag. The distance lifted by the hand is approximately the height of the venous pulse pressure. Through this examination, the corresponding symptoms can be judged.
