Amoebic vaginitis

Amebic vaginitis is mostly caused by amoebic pathogens that are excreted in the stool and directly infect the vulva or vagina. Amoeba pathogens directly invade the vagina, but if the general condition is poor or the vaginal mucosal epithelial cells are damaged, the amoeba trophozoites can invade the injured site and cause inflammation. After the protozoa invades the vaginal mucosa, it relies on its pseudofoot and its secreted tissue lysing enzymes to cause mucosal necrosis and form ulcers. Patients with low body resistance can also invade the vulva, cervix and endometrium to develop inflammation.
