Angiotensin I converting enzyme activity

Angiotensin-converting enzyme is a glycoprotein that contains zinc and is a dipeptide carboxypeptidase. Angiotensin I can be made into angiotensin II with blood-raising effect, which further shrinks blood vessels and raises blood pressure. Angiotensin-converting enzyme can also inactivate the soothing kallikrein, which has a hypotensive effect, and may also directly act on the adrenal cortex to promote the secretion of aldosterone. It is an important regulator of the renin-aldosterone system and the bradykinin system. The determination of serum angiotensin I converting enzyme activity is commonly used in the diagnosis and active diagnosis of sarcoidosis.
