Swelling of the parotid glands

The anterior boundary of the parotid gland is the front edge of the mandibular branch, the posterior boundary is the upper posterior process of the sternocleidomastoid muscle and the external auditory meatus, the upper boundary is the lower edge of the sacral arch, and the lower boundary is flat or 1-2 cm below the mandibular angle. There are many reasons for the swelling of the parotid gland area. It can be a disease of the parotid gland itself, a local sign of a systemic disease, or a disease of non-parotid tissues such as chewing muscles.
