Central calcification

Central chondrosarcoma can appear as osteolysis with ambiguous borders, with or without interruption of cortical bone. Because cartilage tends to calcify and ossify, radiopaque regions can appear in the tumor. Calcification often occurs around the cartilage lobules, without certain structure. It is characterized by irregular mist-like particles, nodules, or radiopaque rings.
