Increased elbow valgus angle

Elbow valgus manifests as an increase in elbow valgus angle when the elbow joint is straightened. When the normal elbow joint is fully straightened, there is a slight valgus of about 10 ° in men and about 15 ° in women. This valgus angle is called the carrying angle. If this angle increases, the forearm is too abducted, which is called elbow valgus deformity. The most common cause of elbow eversion is the supracondylar fracture of the humerus and the fracture of the distal humerus in children who have not been reset or who have failed to reset. Elbow valgus can be caused by the failure of the humeral metatarsal and epicondylar fractures to be timely reset or poorly reset, premature closure of the humeral metatarsal condyles, ischemic necrosis, and dislocation of the elbow joint without reset or poor reduction.
