Lidocaine metabolism test

Lidocaine metabolism test is a quantitative liver function test that mainly reflects liver metabolism. Lidocaine is mainly metabolized in the liver and is rapidly metabolized. Approximately 90% of it is produced by dealkylation of the liver cytochrome P-450 system. Xylylamine (MEGX) is mainly excreted through the kidneys. The clearance rate of lidocaine in healthy people depends mainly on liver blood flow. The MEGX test reflects the viability of liver cytochrome P-450. Patients with liver disease have a slower metabolic rate. The MEGX test can directly reflect the function of liver cells.
