The histamine inhalation test is a type of bronchial drug challenge test. By inhaling the biologically active medium histamine, it directly stimulates the contraction of bronchial smooth muscles, and also stimulates the cholinergic nerve endings, reflexively induces the contraction of smooth muscles, resulting in bronchospasm.
