Meibomian gland cystectomy

When the normal discharge ducts of the meibomian gland secretion are blocked, the glandular secretion cannot be discharged normally, and retention silt occurs, which stimulates chronic inflammatory granulomatous changes in and around the gland, called the meibomian gland cyst. Both adults and children can develop the disease, but it is more common in children. The clinical features are painless masses that occur on the meibomian, hard texture, not red, and no adhesion to skin tissue. The conjunctival surface within the range corresponding to the mass was hyperemic, and the conjunctival surface was rough. However, large cysts are difficult to subside on their own. Therefore, meibomian gland cystectomy should be used for treatment.
