Total hip surface (double cup) replacement

In this operation, the acetabular cap and the metal femoral head cup of ultra-high molecular polyethylene are used to cover and reconstruct the articular surface that has been damaged and removed to achieve the effect of restoring joint function. The feature of this operation is that the femoral head and neck do not need to be removed too much, and the trauma is small. It is suitable for cases with younger age and only articular surface destruction. However, surface replacement also has its shortcomings: prostheses are easy to loosen and dislocate, especially the femoral head and neck due to ischemic necrosis and absorption, more easily loosened. Femoral neck fractures can also result from the removal of bone from the femoral neck. However, because the femoral head and neck have not been removed, there is still a chance to switch to total hip arthroplasty after failure, which is a good transition method for relatively young cases.
