Pulmonary embolism

Pulmonary embolism (pulmonary embolism) refers to pathological and clinical conditions caused by the impaction of substances into the pulmonary artery and its branches, blocking the blood supply to the tissue. Common emboli are blood clots, and the rest are rare new biological cells, fat droplets, air bubbles, intravenous drug particles, and even pulmonary vascular occlusion caused by the catheter tip. Due to the dual blood supply of the bronchial and pulmonary arteries and the direct exchange of gas between the lung tissue and the alveoli, most pulmonary embolism does not necessarily cause pulmonary infarction.
