Epilepsy and seizures

Seizures and epilepsy are a group of diseases and syndromes characterized by transient central nervous system dysfunction caused by abnormal discharges of nerves that recur during the course of the disease. Depending on the location of the neuron and the extent of the discharge spread, dysfunction may manifest as different disorders such as movement, sensation, consciousness, behavior, autonomic nerves, or both. Each or each seizure is called an epileptic seizure. Patients may coexist with one or more painful seizures.
