Mitral valve prolapse

Mitral valve prolapse refers to the abnormal mitral valve device that causes the valve to prolapse abnormally into the left atrium during ventricular systole. This sign was first described by Barlow in 1963, so it is also called Barlow syndrome. Many names have been used, including "systolic murmur syndrome", "mitral valve prolapse syndrome", "soft valve syndrome" and so on.
