Blue sclera

A mother never let a 4-year-old son watch TV. The reason is that the son was originally poor in constitution and often watched TV. His eyes became blue. As a result, the child cried and made noises, and even turned a meal with a picky eater into a refusal to eat in protest-and his eyes became more blue. The "blue eyes" referred to here means that under normal natural light, the sclera of the eyes appears light blue. In fact, this scleral bluishness is not caused by watching TV, but an early signal of iron deficiency anemia. This has to start from human physiology. Because the human sclera is composed of collagen tissue, and iron in the body is an important cofactor for the synthesis of collagen. If there is iron deficiency in the body and insufficient collagen synthesis, the sclera will become thin and cannot effectively hide the brown and black choroids in the eyeballs. When viewed under natural light, it will become light blue. Studies have shown that Asian children's eye sclera should be grayish white, if blue, you can consider anemia. Because children with pelvic blood should have pale skin and mucous membranes, often appear later than the sclera blue.
