Ground-glass miliary or nodular changes in both lungs

Chest radiographs and CT of patients with cytomegalovirus pneumonia often have ground-glass miliary or nodular changes in both lungs. Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a viral pneumonia characterized by the formation of giant A-type eosinophilic nuclear and cytoplasmic inclusions in infected cells. Most are asymptomatic recessive infections, but can cause severe lung infections and death in immunocompromised and infants. In recent years, with the development of bone marrow and organ transplantation and the increasing number of AIDS patients, CMV has become the most common pathogen in these two cases.
