Changes in serum enzymes

Enzymes are a special kind of protein, made by living cells, and they have extremely high performance catalysts. The liver is the most enzyme-rich organ in the body. When the liver has substantial damage, some enzymes escape from it, such as ALT. Some enzymes, such as ALP, remain in the stagnant blood due to poor liver function. Some enzymes reduce the production of hepatocytes with cholinesterase. Some enzymes increase production under pathological conditions, such as monoamine oxidase. Therefore, the change of serum enzyme activity is helpful to reflect the pathological state of the liver and is one of the commonly used methods for liver function tests.
