Cholecystitis is a inflammatory disease of the gallbladder caused by bacterial infections or chemical stimuli (changes in bile composition), and is a common disease of the gallbladder. Its incidence is second only to appendicitis in abdominal surgery. This disease is more common in middle-aged people aged 35 to 55 years. It is more common in women than men, especially in obese women with multiple pregnancies.
