Sedation, stability, hypnotic poisoning
Barbiturates are divided into four types: long-acting, medium-acting, short-acting, and ultra-short-acting. Commonly used in pediatrics are barbiturate, phenobarbital, pentobarbital, and isoprenebarbital. Cobarbital, thiopental sodium, etc. Entering 5 to 10 times the hypnotic dose of such drugs at one time can cause acute poisoning; when the actual absorbed amount exceeds 15 times its own therapeutic amount, there is a fatal danger. Oral long-acting barbiturate> 6mg / kg, short-acting barbiturate> 3mg / kg, toxic reactions can occur. Long-term use of large amounts of long-acting barbiturates is more prone to accumulation poisoning, especially in children with liver and kidney dysfunction. Intravenous injection is too fast and severe poisoning can occur.
