HCV

Viral hepatitis type C (HC for short) is a disease caused by hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. The main blood-borne transmission is through blood transfusion or blood products, hemodialysis, and apheresis. Also caused by blood transfusions, kidney transplants, intravenous drugs, sexually transmitted, mother-to-child transmission. Clinical manifestations include fever, gastrointestinal symptoms, and abnormal liver function. Similar to hepatitis B, but milder. Most cases are subclinical, with a more chronic nature and can also lead to fulminant liver failure. More common in people infected with other viruses.
