Yersinia enterocolitica pneumonia

Most infections caused by Yersinia enterocolitica enter the gastrointestinal tract, causing self-limiting gastroenteritis or mesenteric and terminal ileal glandular inflammation. Septicemia and its involvement in the lungs and other internal organs are rare. Pneumonia cases generally occur in patients with cirrhosis or immunocompromised patients.
