Viral encephalitis

Viral encephalitis and viral meningitis both refer to acute intracranial inflammation caused by various viruses. Different types of diseases are formed due to differences in pathogenic properties and host response processes. If the inflammatory process is mainly in the meninges, the clinical focus is viral meningitis. When the brain parenchyma is mainly involved, viral encephalitis is a clinical feature. Most patients have a self-limiting course of disease. Viral meningitis was often called aseptic meningitis around the 1950s. This may be due to patients with typical meningeal irritation and cerebrospinal fluid examination using smears and culture methods could not be found. Bacterial and fungal, pathomorphological changes are similar to viral infections.
