Serum CA50

Sugar chain antigen 50 is also called carbohydrate antigen 50 and cancer antigen 50. It is a glycoprotein mainly composed of sialic acid and sialic glycoprotein, and is also a tumor antigen. Glycolipids or glycoproteins on the surface of normal cells play an important role in the transmission, growth, and differentiation of cellular information. When cells are malignant, tumor markers are generated due to the inactivation of glycosylconvertase or the reactivation of invertase at the embryonic stage, resulting in changes in the sugar structure and antigenic properties on the cell surface. Sugar chain antigen 50 is a non-specific broad-spectrum tumor marker that has a certain cross-antigenicity with sugar chain antigen 19-9. It is mainly used for auxiliary diagnosis of pancreatic cancer, colon cancer, rectal cancer, and gastric cancer. The increase is most pronounced.
