Prealbumin

Serum prealbumin is a glycoprotein synthesized by the liver. It consists of four identical subunits and has a half-life of 0.5 days. It is involved in the synthesis of T3, T4, vitamins, and retinol proteins. Serum prealbumin measurement can reflect the liver's function of synthesizing and secreting proteins, and can be used as an early indicator of liver damage and suggest changes and prognosis of some diseases.
