Antiplatelet antibody

Anti-platelet antibody (APA) is an antibody that binds to platelets and is an indicator for the diagnosis of autoimmune thrombocytopenia. Antibody-bound platelets are either easily captured by the mononuclear-macrophage system and destroyed, or they are dissolved by binding to complement, which shortens the lifespan and reduces the number of platelets.
