Erythrocyte ring

A purple-red color that appears in red blood cells is round or "8" shaped red thin linear loops. Some people think that the ring is a residue of the nuclear membrane. It is thought that it may be the residue of the spindle or the degeneration of lipoprotein in the cytoplasm, which often appears at the same time as the Howell-Jolly body. Found in hemolytic anemia, malignant anemia, megaloblastic anemia, after splenectomy or lead poisoning.
