Sigmoid colorectal end-to-end anastomosis

This operation, also known as anterior rectal resection, can be performed entirely in the abdominal cavity. Perineal surgery is omitted without compromising the function of the sphincter, and there are fewer complications of the genitourinary system. The rectum is not covered with serosa, and anastomotic leakage is prone to occur. If the lymph nodes in the pelvic cavity are metastasized, the resection may not be complete.
